Freshman golfer Andy Chaidel carded a 47 against Ripon on Friday, although this was only the second match he's ever played for Riverbank High.

"We did pretty well considering we have three freshmen on the team," said Bruin coach Jim Bartlett. "Ripon, of course, is a solid team and they were shooting in the 30s and low 40s."

Ripon won the match by 175-237 at their home Jack Tone course.

Riverbank's scores were Vince Benham, 42; Kyle Vaughn, 45; Chaidel, 47; Martin Moreno, 50; and Patrick Dean, 53.

The Bruins also lost an April 7 match against Hughson, 223-276, on Riverbank's home La Contenta course.

Bruin Vaughn stroked a 49; Benham, 54; Justin Walsh, 54; Moreno, 56; and Chaidel, 63.

Having lost his lead player, Bartlett said he is concentrating on grooming his younger golfers to make a good showing next year.

The Bruins have yet to win a league match. Their sole victory has been against Waterford, during the preseason.
