Riverbank ballplayers were leading 7-5 until the fourth inning of Thursday's home game against Pitman.
Then the Turlock team rallied for four runs and eventually won 10-9.
"We made six errors in the first three innings and that gave Pitman the game. Without those errors, we would have won," said Bruin varsity baseball coach Mike Carrigg.
Offensively, it was a good game for the Bruins who connected with some solid hits, scoring a total of nine runs.
"We even got the tying run on second during the seventh inning, but couldn't get the hit to bring him home," Carrigg added.
Kevin Cole opened the pitching for Riverbank. He was relieved in the third inning after Pitman put together four runs in the second inning. But Pitman came up with another quartet of runs in the fourth.
Riverbank collected eight hits to Pitman's 10 and posted six errors to their opponent's five.
Against Central Catholic in Tuesday's away game, the Bruins were shut out 7-0.
"Our pitching was OK but our hitting was not the best," said Carrigg.
Drew Villalobos pitched into the mitt of Juan Lopez ."We got no offensive support at all," said Carrigg. "We collected just one hit and got only three runners on base. You can't win games that way."
Scattering nine hits, Central scored two runs in the first inning, one in the third and four more in the fifth.
The Bruins started Trans Valley League play against Ripon Christian on Tuesday. They will play away against Hughson on March 18.
Escalon, now 6-0, and Ripon are the teams to beat this season, said Carrigg. Riverbank is hoping to make third place for the last remaining berth in the playoffs.
