With girls soccer set to begin scrimmage games Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Oakdale, boys soccer and boys basketball began their preseason scrimmages this past week for Riverbank. Here is a round-up of the action.

Basketball

On Saturday, Nov. 10 the Bruin boys basketball players saw an active workout, with a six-way scrimmage held on campus.

The varsity teams started out playing on the smaller ‘cross court’ PE backboards in the Ray Fauria Gymnasium, with four teams competing in 15-minute periods, while two rested, starting about 10 a.m. Around noon, action shifted to the regulation courts, with half court play, again with four teams competing while two rested.

At the same time, JV teams were playing in the old Bruin Gym.

The Lady Bruin varsity basketballers won’t see any action until the Foundation Game, coming up Monday. Nov. 19 at 6 p.m., on the home court, then they won’t compete until Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 28-29, beginning in tournaments in Escalon for the JV girls and the Golden Valley Tournament in Bakersfield.

Soccer

On Friday, Nov. 9 Riverbank’s soccer boys traveled to Franklin High School in Elk Grove for scrimmage matches. Since it was preseason, scores were not reported. Player lists have not been firmed up as yet, either.

Their preliminary roster lists 25 varsity soccer players on the boys side, but game jerseys have not yet been issued.

Boys soccer is set to scrimmage Nov. 14, hosting the Oakdale Mustangs at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. They’ll also host Argonaut on Friday, Nov. 16.

Girls soccer will host Downey High School of Modesto for scrimmages on Friday, Nov. 16, at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., then travel to Linden on Tuesday, Nov. 20, for action at Linden High School. They’ll also be on the road Nov. 21 at Stagg High School in Stockton.
