In what would be the Riverbank Bruins' final tune-up prior to the opening of an always rigorous Trans-Valley League schedule, the varsity soccer Bruins battled tough, matching with Johansen High in a 2-2 tie this week at Johansen.
The Bruins held a 1-0 lead after the opening half of play, but could not hold on to the lead as Johansen nailed two second half goals on their way to a tie. Riverbank netted one goal in the second half to notch the draw.
"We did pretty well in the first half, we had them one zero by halftime," Riverbank head coach Martin Gonzales said. "And they came back on us about 15 minutes in to that second half."
