An aquatics camp at the Riverbank City Pool introduced youngsters to some new swimming techniques and water safety during the week of Aug. 2-6, in addition to letting them enjoy races, contests and water games.

The children participating were Tristen Magallon, Rikki Cook, Troy Johnson and Alex Merkel of Riverbank, Wyatt Lewis of Oakdale and Steve Willey Modesto.

Lifeguard Britanny Allen and others ran the program, which taught some advanced swimming techniques earlier in the week, safety and rescue methods on Thursday, and ended with games on Friday morning.

Swimming lessons at the pool will end this week, but aquatic fitness and lap swimming will continue through Aug. 27.

The pool will stay open for recreational swimming into September. But the hours will be adjusted once schools reopen onMonday, tentatively set as 3- to 6 p.m.
