The athletic directors at Riverbank High School have announced plans and procedures for the 2020-21 sports seasons.
Co-directors Mike Carrigg and John Bartlett posted their message for parents and potential athletes on the high school’s website.
It notes the “very strange school year that just came to an end,” and seeks to update them on what they need to know while working their way toward re-starting in the near future. They report that COVID-19 issues have put all high school athletic practices on hold in the district until at least June 30.
“We are monitoring information coming out of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) and Sac-Joaquin Section offices, as well as county health recommendations for any updates regarding when and how fall sports will resume. We are hopeful that athletics will resume this fall.”
They indicate that, moving into the normal summer break, there “are some things you can do to have your athlete ready to begin once our schools get the OK to begin athletic practices again.”
The directors say parents should schedule the sports physical as soon as possible to avoid the rush trying to get an appointment once the season has begun. They point out the physicals from last school year expired on May 30, and say the new ones should be dated June 1 or later.
The notice includes instructions on how to create a SportsNet account, accessed through the RUSD website, under the Students/Parents tab to upload their form.
They added that athletes will not be cleared to participate until their physical has been scanned and uploaded to the site.
For those who need information about a specific fall sport, they may email their coach. The notice indicates their e-mail addresses. E-mail for co-AD Mike Carrigg is included as well.
The two said they plan to try and keep families updated as new information is provided. They ask parents to continue to check the district website for new information.
