The COVID-shortened football season for Riverbank High has come to a close, while Lady Bruin volleyball continued during last week’s spring break and spring sports prepares to start its season soon.
The Bruins finished their brief football campaign on the road last week, taking a loss at the hands of the Wildcats in Waterford. The game scheduled for this Friday, at Hughson, has been canceled. The five-game schedule thus shortened to four, but at least the first three were on the home field.
Lady Bruin Volleyball
As did last week’s football match up, girls volleyball saw games scheduled last week, during spring break.
On April 6, the Lady Bruins hosted Denair, taking a hard earned 3-1 match from the Lady Coyotes, then they hosted Hughson’s Lady Huskies last Thursday. In that one, they were not so successful, falling 3-0.
This week’s volleyball games are both scheduled for the road, at Modesto Christian and Waterford. Their final home match comes on April 19, against Orestimba, before they finish the season at Mariposa on the April 21.
Spring Sports Set
Meanwhile, this week will see track and field, baseball and both boys and girls soccer and boys and girls basketball seasons getting revved up.
Basketball and soccer play doesn’t start until May 5, but baseball will begin play during the last week of April.
