Golf Team Battles Foes

Bruin golfer Kyle Vaughn showed great form on Thursday as he stroked a 37 to lead his teammates against Hughson.

Riverbank lost 191-228, but Vaughn's round was exceptional, said Bruin coach John Bartlett.

Among other members of the team, Clint Intorf, who is generally the leader, shot a 40. Vince Benham placed a 48; Nick Benham, a 50; and Daniel Reed, a 53.

The Bruins also lost to Ripon Christian on Tuesday in their first Trans Valley League match.

"The kids shot very well," said Bartlett. "After the first three golfers came in, we were leading. But we didn't have the depth and lost in the end."

This week, the Bruins were scheduled to go against Ripon on Tuesday and face Escalon on Thursday. Both matches are on Riverbank's home course of La Contenta in Valley Springs.
