Spring is now officially here, according to the calendar, but springtime sports on the Riverbank High campus even enjoyed some warm weather this past week.

Though there might be a few lingering showers in the forecast, teams are seeing plenty of action and spring sports are undeniably here for RHS athletes.

Bruin Baseball

The Riverbank varsity nine took to the home diamond three times last week. Unfortunately, results were not favorable for the Bruins in the pre-season action.

On Monday, March 11, the Bruins hosted the Central Valley Hawks of Ceres, dropping the contest 12-0 in six innings. On Wednesday, the Knights of Ripon Christian High School came to town, walking away with a 24-3 win in five innings.

Finally, on Friday, Riverbank hosted Warriors of Orestimba High School in Newman, falling 22-6. All three were non-league games.

The Bruins were to travel to Escalon to kick off the 2019 Trans-Valley League season on Tuesday, March 19. They’ll be hosting the EHS Cougars on Thursday, March 21 at 4 p.m. to complete the ‘home and home’ series. Next week, they’ll face Livingston, both home and away, on Tuesday and Thursday.

Lady Bruins Softball

Girls softball kicked off its 2019 TVL season in Riverbank on Friday, March 15 hosting the Lady Wolves from Livingston. They finished down, 7-0 in seven innings.

The team was to travel to Hilmar on Wednesday, March 27 and will host Millennium High School from Tracy on Friday, March 22.

Co-Ed Track and Field

The RHS tracksters hosted the Trans-Valley League Relays on Tuesday, March 12, but results weren’t available as of press time. A bit of a cloudburst dampened the field just before start time, but everything finished by the end of the day.

The athletes were to compete in Hilmar on Tuesday and also are scheduled to be out of town on Friday, March 22.

Co-Ed Tennis

Riverbank netters were to compete at Orestimba last Wednesday, then were scheduled to host Livingston on Tuesday, March 19 in Trans-Valley League action. They’ll return to the court to host Hughson next Tuesday.

Bruin Golf Boys

The golf squad was to host Modesto Christian in TVL play on Tuesday, March 19 at the Jack Tone Course in Ripon, their home turf this year, then travel to Hilmar for a match on Thursday. They host Escalon next Tuesday and Livingston on Thursday next week, winding their way through the league campaign.
