Baseball Boys Drop Two, Softball Girls Split Pair

Riverbank’s varsity boys baseball teams dropped a pair of games, home and away, against the Ripon Indians, while the Lady Bruin softballers split two games, against different teams, in the past week’s high school action.

Bruin boys lost 17-5 at Ripon in league play on Tuesday, March 17, then hosted the Indians on Thursday, losing 16-2 in that contest.

Riverbank gave up five runs in the top of the second inning, scoring two of their own in the bottom of that frame, but gave them back, plus another in the third and another eight runs in the fourth inning. Riverbank’s league record was 0-4 at the end of the week. They were to host the Modesto Christian Crusaders on Tuesday, March 24. then play them on the road on Thursday.

The JV boys lost to Ripon 11-0 on Tuesday, then 14-3, on Thursday. They were scheduled to play at Mountain House on Monday, March 23.

 

SOFTBALL

The Lady Bruins played two games this past week, failing to eke out a run in a loss against Hughson, 15-0, on Wednesday, March 18, at home, then providing a strong finish at Hilmar, 8-3, on Friday, March 20. The Friday game was tied 3-3, but a five-run sixth inning proved to be the difference as Riverbank claimed the road victory. The ladies also cashed in with eight stolen bases against the Lady Yellowjackets, with Cristina Perez, Cerena Bernal and Savannah Pulido chipping in two stolen bases each.

Riverbank’s girls are scheduled to host the Lady Cougars of Escalon today (Wednesday, March 25), then travel to Yosemite High on Thursday.
