It’s that time of year again; a full schedule of basketball games to kick off the 2014-15 schedule, as Riverbank hosts the annual Ron Peterson Tip-Off Tournament.

Games are featured at both the JV and varsity level, with games starting on Thursday, Dec. 4 and continuing through Saturday, Dec. 6.

The games begin on Thursday, Dec. 4 and are the same for both the JV and varsity brackets.

“The JV will be playing in the old gym and varsity in the Fauria gym,” said Riverbank varsity head coach Jeff Jennings. “We have added Manteca High this year so the tournament should be really competitive.”

In Thursday’s opener, Summerville takes on Denair at 4 p.m., with the JV in the old gym and the varsity teams battling in the Fauria gym. At 5:30 p.m., the JV and varsity squads from Ripon Christian and Oakdale will face off, while it will be Waterford vs. Calaveras in the 7 p.m. game.

Riverbank teams have the final game of the day in the opening round, both the JV and varsity hosting Manteca at 8:30 p.m.

Winners move on in the championship bracket and losers in the consolation bracket, with additional games on Friday and then the final games on Saturday. Seventh and eighth place game on the consolation side will be at 2:30 p.m., the consolation game (fifth/sixth place) will be at 4 p.m.

On the winners side of the bracket, the third and fourth place game will be Saturday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m. and the championship game is set for 7 p.m.

“We have two teams each from the Trans-Valley League, Mother Lode League, Valley Oak League and Southern League,” Jennings noted. “I think the Ron Peterson Tip Off tournament is the toughest small school tournament in our area.”
