Mixed Bag Of Results For Riverbank Athletes

Riverbank boys varsity baseball split a home and away series of games against Modesto Christian this past week, blanking the Crusaders 10-0 at home on March 24, before traveling to MC for a 23-4 loss on Thursday, March 26.

The Bruins were scheduled to host the Hilmar Yellowjackets on Tuesday, March 31 after The News went to press, and go to Hilmar on Thursday to play the Jackets again. During the Easter break, RHS Varsity and JV teams are set to participate in the Art McRae Tournament at Central Valley High School, April 6 through 9.

 

GIRLS SOFTBALL

The Lady Bruins softball team was blanked by Hughson, 15-0, at home on Wednesday, March 18, then beat Hilmar in their house, 8-3, on March 20. They hosted the Lady Cougars of Escalon on Wednesday, March 25 and played to a 7-2 loss against the visitors.

The high point of Riverbank’s game came when junior pitcher Briana Allen hit a home run in the sixth inning, accounting for the second and final run of the day.

On Thursday, March 26, the Lady Bruins traveled to Oakhurst to take on the Yosemite Lady Badgers in a non-conference game, returning with a 9-5 win.

The Riverbank girls were scheduled to host Modesto Christian on Tuesday, March 31, and host Hughson on Thursday, April 2.

 

GIRLS SOCCER

Riverbank’s Lady Bruins varsity girls soccer was stymied with a rare 0-0 tie in Escalon on Tuesday, March 24, and lost 2-0 to Ripon on Thursday, March 26, leaving a 0-1-1 record at the end of last week. The JV team lost 8-1 to Escalon and was blanked by Ripon, 9-0, as their week concluded.

Riverbank was to host Modesto Christian on Tuesday, March 31, then host Hughson on April 2.

 

TENNIS, GOLF

After playing mostly away matches to start the season, the co-ed Bruin tennis team was scheduled to host Modesto Christian on Tuesday, March 31, and travel to Hughson on Thursday, April 2.

Bruin boys varsity golf similarly has had away matches early in the season, but was to host Escalon, on Tuesday, March 31. Ironically, Riverbank plays its home matches at the Escalon Golf Course, on Escalon-Bellota Road.
