Riverbank’s varsity girls have nailed down a couple of non-league basketball wins, edging past both Bret Harte and Sierra.

They faced off with Bret Harte on Wednesday, Dec. 18 and came away with a 40-33 victory. Leading the way were the Luu sisters, with 14 points from Olivia Luu and 11 from Janelle Luu. Also chipping in was Lilly Garcia, adding eight points to the total.

Action on the home court Saturday, Dec. 21 saw the varsity girls take a 41-34 win against visiting Sierra.

It was a 12-7 lead for host Riverbank after one quarter and they were up 23-17 at the half. A third quarter scoring edge helped the Lady Bruins hold off Sierra, which outscored Riverbank over the final eight minutes but couldn’t make up the deficit. Riverbank was up 35-25 after three.

School is out for winter break but the squad has a game scheduled at West in Tracy on Thursday, Dec. 26 and then is slated to host Sonora in a home game on Friday, Dec. 27.
