With three wins this week – two of them in Trans-Valley League play – the Riverbank varsity Lady Bruins continued to roll through their basketball schedule.

In between, they traveled to take on the Beyer Patriots in neighboring Modesto and also were winners there in non-league play.

Leading scorer was Sierra Nabors with 13 points, followed by Olivia Luu and Lilly Garcia with 12 points apiece, Karina Cajero adding 10 to the total.

The girls used a huge 28-6 advantage in the first quarter to set the tone and never let Escalon get into the game, outscoring them by a combined 41-18 over the next three quarters for the margin of victory.

Escalon’s JV girls topped Riverbank by a 39-19 score in their contest, while the Riverbank freshmen came away with a one-point win, 21-20.

On the road for non-league play on Wednesday, Jan. 8, the varsity girls took a 10-point win, 50-40, at Beyer.

Back to TVL action Thursday, Riverbank raced out to another early lead, this time an 18-4 edge over Hilmar in the first quarter and a comfortable 32-13 edge at the half. Hilmar was held to single digit scoring in each of the four quarters and fell in a 54-26 decision.

This time, Janelle Luu was leading scorer, the senior putting in 14 points and pulling down 10 rebounds to pace the squad. Chloe Arnold put in 10 points and Garcia added seven.
