The Hughson Huskies rolled out the welcome mats for the Riverbank Bruins but were anything but hospitable during a 30-0 drubbing in a Trans-Valley league baseball game.

The Bruins' Marcus Sahagun handled the starting duties for Riverbank and got out of the first inning with minimal damage, holding the potent Huskies offense to just one run.

The second inning was a different story.

Hughson exploded for 16 runs during the marathon second inning, pushing any chance of another TVL victory right out of the minds of the young Bruins.

Riverbank's struggles continued as the squad's offensive funk dogged them once again during a 10-0 loss to Modesto Christian High. The Bruins only managed one hit against Crusader starter Mason O'Leary, while defensively the squad committed three errors.

Miguel Hernandez got the start for the Bruins and ran into trouble in the second inning when Modesto Christian pushed across a five spot to take a commanding lead.

After showing brief glimpses of promise on the season, Riverbank will look to close out the TVL schedule with a strong showing against the Ripon Indians in the two teams' league finale.

Ripon will visit Riverbank on Wednesday, May 6 having won six of their last eight contests and will certainly not want to hand the Bruins their third TVL victory in the process.

The two squads will meet up a final time on May 8 at Ripon High in the close of the 2009 season. Both contests are scheduled for 4 p.m. first pitches.
