Riverbank High's varsity girls basketball team bounced back from a tightly contest 53-45 loss to undefeated East Union on Dec. 19 with a 66-25 victory over Summerville the following day.

The win advanced Riverbank to 7-3 on the season with just one non-conference contest left to play.

Riverbank trailed by four points after a quarter against East Union, but fired back with a 15-8 second period rally to take the lead. East Union erupted for a 10-point advantage in the third quarter and held off Riverbank with a 13-12 fourth quarter to seal the win.

Olivia Luu scored 19 points on the Lancers with three 3-pointers, nine rebounds, six steals and six assists. Janelle Luu added 11 points, 10 rebounds and four assists while Kendra Garcia (six points) and Tori Sandoval (six points, 10 rebounds) also had strong games. Vanessa Vargas scored three in the loss.

Riverbank took their aggression out on Summerville on Dec. 20 after a 20-2 explosion in both the first and third quarters.

Nine Lady Bruins scored in the win, but Olivia Luu nabbed a game-high 19 points with 10 steals, six rebounds and eight assists. Janelle Luu added 14 points with 10 rebounds while Tiffany Edgar chipped in nine points and seven rebounds. Garcia (eight), Angel Harrell (six), Vargas (four), Raine Gallagher (three), Sandoval (one) and Amy McDonald (one) also stayed busy on the scorebook.

Riverbank hosts Sierra (1-8) on Dec 29 to wrap their non-league schedule before heading into Trans-Valley League play to start the New Year.
