With first semester finals behind them and the holiday break here, Riverbank High athletes might be slowing down a little bit for the end of the year, but there will still be non-league contests scheduled before classes resume in 2018.
Lady Bruin Soccer
The girls soccer teams had a busy last week of the school session, with three matches in five days, but disappointment dogged the varsity in each competition.
The first, Dec. 18 on the road at Ripon Christian, they fell 2-0 to the Lady Knights. The next two were at home, but Wednesday saw a 5-0 loss to the Lady Wolves of Livingston, then a 5-1 defeat by the Lady Titans of Chavez High School from Stockton.
The Riverbank girls will travel to Manteca this week to take on East Union High School’s Lady Lancers in a non-league match, their only contest during the holiday break.
Boys Soccer
The Bruin boys varsity soccer team played away games all last week, with pre-season losses to Ripon Christian, 3-2, on Dec. 18, and then, blanked 4-0, to Franklin High School in Elk Grove.
Boys’ soccer plays again tomorrow, Dec. 28, traveling to Manteca against East Union.
Girls Basketball
The Lady Bruins played at Sierra High School in Manteca, losing 69-45 in non-league play, then they traveled to Livingston on Wednesday, Dec. 20. They participated in the Mesa Verde tournament Dec. 21 and 22, and will play next on the road today, Dec. 27, at Pacheco High School.
Their next home game will be tomorrow, Dec. 28 when the girls face Bret Harte.
Bruin Basketball
Varsity boys basketball beat the Oakdale Mustangs on their home court, 64-36, on Dec. 20, then competed in the Mesa Verde Challenge in Citrus Heights on Dec. 21 and 22.
They play next in Waterford, on Friday, Dec. 29, then travel to Escalon for the Trans-Valley League opener on Wednesday, Jan. 3. Their next home game won’t be until Friday, Jan. 5, hosting Ripon Christian.
