The Bruin boys soccer team hosted two games this past week, against Hilmar on Tuesday and against the Cougars of Escalon on Thursday. Sept. 17.

Tuesday’s game against the Yellowjackets ground to a 2-2 tie. Wins have been tough for the Bruin booters to come by in the early going and, though it wasn’t a victory over the visiting Hilmar team, it wasn’t a loss either. The Bruins faced an even tougher match with Escalon on Thursday, but mounted a tough defense, fighting to a 0-0 tie at the midway point.

In the second half, the Cougars hit the back of the net just two minutes, 10 seconds in to the period. That lead rose to three goals with 28 minutes left, and the tally got to four scores with 10 minutes remaining.

About two minutes later, the Bruins finally scored, but Escalon capped the game with their final score with under five minutes left to play, ending up walking off the pitch with a 5-1 victory over Riverbank.

This week, RHS soccer was to travel to Mountain House on Tuesday, Sept. 22 after The News went to press, then will be home to host the Hughson Huskies on Thursday, Sept. 24.
