Riverbank High basketball fans were disappointed this past Friday, Jan. 22 when all three teams dropped their home games against Ripon High School.

In the early contest, the freshman boys team ended their day down, 73-54, falling to the visiting Indians.

The JV Bruins ended their first quarter behind 15-7, the half down 34-11. They battled tough in the second half but still came up short, falling by a 65-32 final score.

Riverbank’s varsity boys were behind 16-10 at the quarter and were down 35-24 at the halfway point of the contest. Ripon, second in league play, kept the pressure on and outscored Riverbank over the final two quarters, but just by a single point. The host Bruins ended up behind 71-59 at the final buzzer.

The Bruins were to travel to Hughson yesterday, Jan. 26 after The News went to press, then host Mountain House for Winter Homecoming festivities on Friday, Jan. 29. That game will close out the first half of Trans-Valley League play.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

The only league game for the varsity girls this past week was on the road, against Ripon High. The final score was 53-28 in favor of the host Lady Indians. The JV girls lost as well, 61-11.

The Lady Bruin teams were to host Hughson on Tuesday, after The News went to press, and travel to Mountain House tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 28 to close out first half play.

MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The Cardozo Eagles were to host sixth-seventh grade and eighth grade games against Salida yesterday, Tuesday, Jan. 26. Their next home game is scheduled to be against Savage on Feb. 9.
