Hoops Practice Underway, Runners On To Sections

The Riverbank High School cross country squads had a successful run at the weekend’s Sub-Section Meet at Frogtown in Angels Camp, according to coach Monte Wood.

He said the varsity boys, varsity girls, and the frosh/soph boys teams all qualified to Sections, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16 at Folsom High School.

“Ramon Rosas and Adan Salgado both medaled in the varsity boys race. Nick Mangiapane finished fifth overall in the frosh/soph boys race and medaled,” Wood said.

He added that it was the “best day at subs for RHS cross country in three years.”

 

Basketball Teams Practicing

Both the Bruin boys basketball teams and the Lady Bruins squads have taken to the hardwood in preparation for their upcoming 2019-2020 season.

According to the early schedule released by the Athletic Department, boys basketball begins on Saturday, Nov. 16 at home with a four-team scrimmage, beginning at 10 a.m.

The girls team plays this year’s Foundation Game on Monday, Nov. 25 at Johansen High School in Modesto.

 

Soccer Starts

Bruin squads in both boys and girls soccer will hit the pitch this week.

The girls head out to Oakdale for a scrimmage scheduled on Thursday, Nov. 14.

Boys soccer hosts Wood High School from Vacaville for a scrimmage the next day, Friday, Nov. 15.

 

Grapplers Meet Next Month

The RHS wrestling team won’t get to start this season until Monday, Dec. 7, when they are scheduled to travel to a Novice Tournament in Calaveras.
