While most Riverbank teams have now completed their fall 2019 schedules, the co-ed cross country squads compete in their TVL Championship meet this week at Tuolumne Park in Modesto. Those who do well will move on to the sub-section and section meets, both in November.
Bruin Football
Riverbank closed out its varsity football season on the road in Hilmar on Friday, Oct. 25. It was the last game of the year for both the Bruins and the Yellowjackets.
Hilmar scored on their first four possessions of the game, with the Bruins stalling, most often deep in their own territory. One Yellowjacket score came on an attempted punt, dropped in the end zone and recovered by Hilmar.
RHS senior De’Ondrey Davis put points on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter, scoring on a 73-yard TD run. The PAT kick by Margarito Capetillo was good, leaving the scoreboard at 48-7 at the end of the game.
Riverbank faced an overwhelming opponent in the Yellowjackets, both in size and number.
Lady Bruin Volleyball
Girls volleyball ended its season at home against Hilmar on Monday, Oct. 21. Though the schedule called for a game that Wednesday, the Lady Bruins had a bye, so their season ended with the Monday loss to the Lady Yellowjackets, 25-8, 25-10 and 25-10.
RHS Winter Sports
Some coaches were giving athletes transitioning from fall to winter teams a week off, but were expecting to pick right up with practices next week for basketball, soccer and wrestling teams.
