After a tune up tournament the weekend before, last Monday, Aug. 29, the Riverbank Lady Bruins varsity girls volleyball team came close to a win in the Foundation Game they hosted against Ceres.

Starting off the match, the visiting Lady Bulldogs took games one and three, 25-17 and 25-14, respectively. But the Lady Bruins fought back, winning the second and fourth games, 25-18 in each.

In the deciding fifth game, Riverbank lost by a close, 11-15 score, giving up the match to Ceres.

The next day, Tuesday, Aug. 30, Riverbank hosted the Lady Buffaloes of Amador. They lost that match in three straight: 21-25, 10-25 and 18-25. On Thursday, Sept. 1, the Lady Bruins traveled to Stockton to take on the Lady Mustangs of Venture Academy in another non-league match.

Riverbank lost in four games, 21-25, 18-25, 25-21 and 13-25, getting their lone win in the third game of the set.

The Lady Bruins were to host the Lions of Big Valley Christian yesterday, Sept. 6, after The News went to press and are scheduled to host Liberty Ranch tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 7. Both are non-league games.

Game time tonight is 5 p.m. for JV, 6 p.m. for the varsity contest.
