High Scoring Varsity Football Leaves Bruins In The Dust

An exciting, high scoring game on Friday night still left Riverbank on the short side of the scoreboard. The Bruins scored at least once in each of the four quarters, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the onslaught from the visiting Millennium Falcons from Tracy.

And no, it wasn’t Han Solo and the Star Wars good guys, with their famous star ship, it was a bigger, faster team that rolled over RHS, leaving a 58-30 score in their wake.

A lengthy back and forth battle ate up most of the first quarter clock, with the Bruins scoring first, with just over two minutes remaining. The PAT attempt was wide, and the Falcons came back with a touchdown and an extra point that put them ahead 7-6 at the end of the frame, and they never looked back.

RHS scored in each of the four quarters, and twice in the final frame, but the PAT's were all missed. The Falcons scored 26 in the first half, and though blanked in the third quarter, finished up with another 32 on the board in the fourth, ending up with the 58-30 win.

JV Football

Though they were only down 13-6 at the beginning of the second half in the preliminary game, the young JV Bruins couldn’t find a way to come back from the deficit. The visitors were able to keep Riverbank off the scoreboard for the rest of the game, and the JV Bruins fell to the JV Falcons, 31-6.

Lady Bruin Volleyball

Last week, the volleyball teams were on the road for both games. They were scheduled for Ripon on Tuesday, Sept. 26, and at Modesto Christian on Thursday.

The JV Lady Bruins lost by a 2-1 final in their MC match, with game one going to the Lady Crusaders, 25-23, the second to RHS, 25-10, and third back to MC in a close one, 15-13.

None of the other match scores were reported.

The Riverbank girls were to play at home yesterday, Oct. 3, hosting the Lady Yellowjackets of Hilmar, with a game at Escalon set for Thursday, Oct. 5.
