Another Saturday, another series of youth football games at the Riverbank High stadium this past weekend.
The Junior Bruins teams hosted the Turlock Junior Pride through the afternoon and into the evening.
In the nightcap, the 6 p.m. varsity contest, featuring the 13- and 14-year-olds, the locals were ahead 14-0 starting the second half.
In the second half, the Junior Pride scored once, with no PAT. The Bruins got on the board twice more, though, with the final score coming on a stretch with the ball across the goal line, with just a few seconds left on the clock.
They elected to forego the PAT attempt, letting the time run out, ending with a 26-6 final tally.
The JV team, 11- and 12-year-olds, fell 30-0 to the Jr. Pride, and the Rookies team, 9 and 10, went down 19-0. The Starts, the 7- and 8-year-olds, lost 12-0.
For the Futures, 5 and 6, scores were not reported.
The Junior Bruin squads return to their RHS home field next Saturday, Sept. 30, hosting the Stockton Jaguars. Following that, they’ll be on the road for two weeks, before returning home Oct. 21 to host Modesto’s Central Valley Jets.
