Last Look At Fall: RHS Sports Awards

This past week, while winter sports at Riverbank High were ramping up for some formal competition, the high school’s fall sports athletes received recognition for their accomplishments at an Awards Night that put a cap on and tied up in a bow their 2016 seasons.

Girls varsity volleyball, girls golf, varsity football, then boys and girls cross country competitors received a variety of awards from their coaches.

From the Volleyball team, Varsity Head Coach Angela Cuellar announced awards for Lily Amesquita-Gallagher, selected All-Bruin; Most Improved was Haven Echevarria; and Cristina Perez received the Coaches Award.

Head Girls Golf Coach Ismael Mercado presented Angela Calderon with the Most Valuable Golfer award; Vanessa Mercado was named Most Improved and Citlali Martinez was selected as All-Bruin for the team.

Bruin Boys Cross Country Coaches Monte Wood and Robbie Searway named Ramon Rosas as Rising Star; and Chris Martinez received the Coach’s Appreciation Award. Carlos Aguilera was named All-Bruin.

On the Girls Cross Country side, the coaches named Alondra Hernandez Most Valuable Runner; Valeria Aguiniga received the All-Bruin plaque; and the Coach’s Appreciation Award went to Angelina Moreno.

The Boys Varsity Football squad celebrated Allen Brown as All-Bruin and coaches named Chris Certuche as Offensive MVP; Eduardo Flores was called out as Defensive MVP for 2016.
