With a lull in basketball practice sessions for the Thanksgiving holiday over, both boys and girls basketball teams look for tournament season action to begin soon.

Varsity boys and girls teams were to participate in the Foundation Game at Johansen High in Modesto on Monday, Nov. 30.

The freshman girls won’t play until Tuesday, Dec. 8 in Oakdale. They won’t play after that until Saturday, Dec. 12, when they host Buhach Colony from Atwater. Game time is set for 4 p.m.

The JV girls are scheduled to play in a three-day tournament in Escalon, starting today, Wednesday, Dec. 2 and continue Thursday and Friday, before they travel to Oakdale on Dec. 8.

The varsity girls have a three-day tournament, the High Sierra Challenge in Reno, NV, starting tomorrow. Next Tuesday, Dec. 8, they, too, will be playing in Oakdale.

Both the varsity and JV girls will go to Calaveras High in San Andreas on Friday, Dec. 11, but without the frosh team. That youngest Lady Bruins don’t play again until Sierra comes here on Jan. 2.

A few more tournaments, both for varsity and JV teams are set for later in December.

The Bruin boys will be very busy over the next few weeks.

After Monday’s Johansen game, the varsity and JV teams will be hosting the Tip-Off Tournament, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 3 through 5. After that, the two teams travel to Downey High School in Modesto on Tuesday, Dec. 8. Later next week, all three teams go in different directions, for tournaments or single games as they wind their way through a busy preseason month of December.
