RHS Athletes Recognized For Academics At Banquet

Riverbank High School Athletic Director John Bartlett recognizes Bruins Joslyn Beliera and Christian Bolanos at the recent Senior Awards event. Both were selected as Trans-Valley League Scholar Athletes of the Year for 2016-17. Beliera played volleyball, soccer and softball this school year, while Bolanos played soccer and baseball. Both Bruin boy and girl athletes gathered earlier this month to receive recognition for their spring sports activities and academic achievements while representing Riverbank High School.

Athletes were identified as having maintained a 3.5 or better grade point average during their seasons. Each student was presented with a small RHS Student Athlete patch for their letterman jacket.

The Class of 2017, the seniors, posted nine recipients, including Joslyn Beliera, for Softball, and Graciela Meza, for Track, with 4.4 GPAs. The class also included Christian Bolanos, Tennis; Lily Gallagher, Softball; Sam Garcia, Track; Jason Montalvo, Tennis; Andrea Pinon, Track; Jessica Vasquez, Tennis; and Fabian Verdin, Baseball. Many of these same seniors were recognized with other awards and scholarships later in the week.

The Junior Class featured 17 Scholar Athletes, Sophomores had 19 selectees and the Freshman Class had 19 as well.
