RHS Cheer Squad Washes Cars, Trucks For Donations

Spray, suds, rinse, dry, repeat … the pattern played out through Saturday morning at Riverbank High School as the 2019-20 edition of the Cheer Squad worked at its car wash fundraiser. The event was held, as usual, in the bus circle off Patterson Road, on the northwestern corner of the campus. Ric McGinnis/The News

The Riverbank High School Cheerleading Squad found a way this past weekend to beat the heat and raise a little money at the same time.

Stationed at the bus circle on the RHS campus on Saturday morning, July 13, the cheerleaders, along with some helpful family members, attacked with gusto the job of cleaning, rinsing and drying whatever vehicles made their appearance. Washers have proudly bathed a variety of vehicles, even semi-trucks, over the years.

At the same time, Bruin grads of all ages were giving their all in both gymnasiums, at the other end of the campus, in the annual Alumni Basketball Tournament.

Like the RHS Band and Guard Boosters the month before them, the cheer squad was raising money for their activities in the upcoming school year that starts in just a few weeks, with the first day scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 7.

If it seems like school just got out, it has been nearly two months since graduation, meaning the start of the 2019-2020 school year is fast approaching. And students this coming year will get three weeks off at Christmas time, with another six days at spring break.
