An RHS senior basketballer was recognized along with other graduating varsity girls who were playing their last home game this past week at the Ray Fauria Memorial Gymnasium on campus.

But for Ashley Genasci, the season ended months ago.

It was the third scrimmage game of the season, on Nov. 30; part of Johansen High School’s Foundation Games in Modesto, and a serious injury put an end to her high school varsity career.

What was diagnosed as anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear put Genasci on the sidelines for the remainder of her season.

She was presented, however, along with the other graduating seniors on the varsity girls basketball team before the beginning of their game against Ripon High on Thursday, Feb. 11. She was accompanied by two aunts.

Genasci is reportedly awaiting surgery that is scheduled in March.
