Riverbank Winter Sports Athletes Receive Awards

Riverbanks varsity boys soccer ended the season as the runner up in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division VI playoffs. Winter sports athletes at Riverbank High School gathered at the Ray Fauria Memorial Gymnasium for an Awards Night recently, with friends and families on hand to cheer them on.

While the group was gathered together, RHS Athletic Director John Bartlett began by announcing the Trans-Valley League Scholar Athlete Awards.

Co-honorees Alyssa Frear and Lily Gallagher were awarded for girls basketball, Joslyn Beliera for girls soccer and Christian Bolanos and Ryan Choeb were co-honorees for boys soccer.

Cheerleaders to receive awards included Klariss Valadez, All-Bruin; Most Inspirational, Ally Rawe; Most Dedicated, Diego Avila and Celina Ramirez.

In girls basketball, Aliza Teixeira was awarded All-Bruin and Hailey Rodgers was tapped as Offensive Most Valuable Player.

In girls soccer, Joslyn Beliera was named All-Bruin, Evelyn Garcia was Defensive Player of the Year; Cristina Perez was Offensive Player of the Year.

For boys soccer, it was Christian Bolanos given the All-Bruin Award. Guillermo Gomes received Defensive Player of the Year, with Edgar Garcia and Victor Rosas each being named co-Offensive Player of the Year.

Boys basketball found Anthony Sanchez named as All-Bruin, Derek Hernandez as MVP, with Chris Certuche and Xavier Esquivel both being tagged Defensive MVP.

The RHS wrestling team named Jalen Spikes All-Bruin, Carter Hedrick as Rising Star and Jose Barajas the Ultimate Underdog.

Following these main awards, the group broke up into teams in classrooms around campus for certificates, Block ‘R’ letter awards and other recognition from their coaches.

Afterwards, the Bruin Boosters had refreshments set up in the lobby of the gym to end the evening.
