Run For The Cheese Coming To Riverbank

Runners of all ages will hit the streets in Riverbank for the annual Run for the Cheese in October, with sign-ups available now.

The last race in the 2019 ShadowChase four-race series is scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 12 – the annual Riverbank Run for the Cheese as part of the city’s Cheese and Wine Exposition.

Registration is available now at reduced rates, with both a 5k walk/run and a 10k run slated, along with a youth one-mile run for those under 18 and a free kids’ 300-meter fun run for those ages seven and younger. All race proceeds benefit Riverbank High School athletic programs and Stanislaus County youth running programs.

Races start and end at Galaxy Theatres, 2525 Patterson Road, Riverbank. The 5k/10k events begin at 8 a.m.; the one-mile youth run starts at 9:30 a.m. and the free kids fun run is at 9:45 a.m.

Early bird registration through Aug. 17 is $30 for adults 18 and over, $15 for ages 17 and under. Pre-registration, Aug. 18 through Sept. 21, is $35 for adults, $20 for youth. All Early bird and pre-registered runners receive a custom tech shirt in the size of their choice. Late registration, Sept. 22 through Oct. 6, is $35 for adults, $20 for youth and race day registration is $40 for adults, $20 for youth. Shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed for late registrants, race day registrants will receive shirts on a first come, first served basis.

Race-day registration and packet pick up start at 6:15 a.m. at Galaxy Theatres east parking lot; ending promptly at 7:50 a.m.

The one-mile is a flat loop around the neighborhood, the 5k is a gently rolling residential tree-lined course and the 10k is a gently rolling residential tree-lined course with a bonus hill. Walkers and baby strollers are welcome on the 5k course and strollers are welcome on the 10k for runners, no walkers on the 10k course.

Awards for the 5k and 10k include a trophy and cheese to the first place overall and medals to the top three places in each age division, male and female. Medals are awarded to the top three places in each age division for the one mile. Complimentary medals to all finishers in the kids fun run.

Post-race refreshments will be provided, including cheese, and the run features computerized chip timing provided by ShadowChase Running Club. For more information, visit http://runforthecheese.com. You can register online at www.active.com.
