Sports Schedule Slows

Riverbank High School athletes continued with a light schedule of games during the week between Christmas and New Year’s, with just a few basketball games showing up, both out of town.

On Friday, Dec. 29, the Lady Bruins traveled to Angels Camp to close out the 2016 part of their winter basketball season, in preparation for league play which was to begin this week. The Lady Bullfrogs of Bret Harte High School overwhelmed Riverbank, winning 64-26.

The girls were scheduled to begin their Trans-Valley League season, Tuesday, Jan. 3 at Escalon, then they are to host Ripon Christian tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 5.

Bruin boys basketball, meanwhile, were set to host Escalon’s Cougars yesterday, then travel to Ripon Christian on Friday.

Last Friday, the varsity Bruins traveled to Stockton to take on the Mustangs of Venture Academy in a pre-season game. They came out on top of the 61-44 score to close out the pre-season for 2016.
