Spring Rains Plague RHS Sports Squads
RHS

With spring rains here last week, scheduled spring sports contests at Riverbank High School took a hit, with actual precipitation, and its soggy aftermath, preventing play on many ball diamonds in the Central Valley.

An exception to that rule, boys volleyball, played indoors, had no games scheduled last week, but the all-weather track at the Angelo Novi Stadium came into play, so to speak, with the TVL Relays coming to town and not being bothered by the weather. Here is a look at the ‘non-action’ of the past week and a preview of what games should get in this week, with sunny skies anticipated.

Boys Volleyball

Bruin netters were to return to the court with a home match on Tuesday, March 27, hosting Hilmar. They’re set to welcome Ripon on Thursday, before the spring break next week.

Riverbank Baseball

With good weather this week, Bruins baseball was expecting to return to the home field after rain outs last week, both home and away against Hilmar. They’re scheduled to host the Cougars of Escalon on the diamonds today, March 28 and then travel to Escalon for the second in the ‘home and home’ series tomorrow, Thursday, March 29.

Co-Ed Tennis

The Bruin tennis teams also suffered early last week with the rain, but already had a bye on their schedule last Friday. This week, they were to host Hughson on Tuesday, after The News went to press, and welcome Escalon for Trans-Valley League competition on Thursday.

Lady Bruin Softball

Girls softball, also hampered by the rain, missed out on three games last week, but hope to return to their field, hosting Ripon High School for a TVL contest on Thursday.

Riverbank teams have time off from games with spring break next week, but resume league action the week after, beginning Tuesday, April 10.
