There weren’t many home games on Riverbank High schedules last week, with but just a few more left in the overall winter sports season. This week brings the big Homecoming game for boys basketball, and senior recognition games for others.

GIRLS SOCCER

On Monday, Jan. 29, the Lady Bruins match hosting Escalon concluded a hard-fought rivalry with the Lady Cougars, finding the visitors on top of the 3-1 final tally in varsity girls soccer. They also dropped a 3-0 match after welcoming the Lady Huskies of Hughson on Friday, Feb. 2.

This week, RHS is to travel to Ripon on Wednesday, Feb. 7, before finishing up with a home game next Wednesday, Feb. 14. A bye was created on Monday, since Modesto Christian didn’t field a girls soccer team this season.

BOYS SOCCER

Riverbank’s varsity boys hosted the Mustangs of Mountain House on Wednesday, Jan. 31, winning 4-2. On Friday, Feb. 2, the Bruins traveled to Hughson, coming home with a 1-0 Trans-Valley League victory over the Huskies. In their first game of the week, they took down the previously undefeated Cougars of Escalon on Monday, Jan. 29, winning by a 1-0 final, converting on a late penalty kick to get the victory.

The Wednesday, Feb. 7 match, against the Indians of Ripon, marks Senior Recognition night on the home pitch at Angelo Novi Stadium. Next week, they end their season on the road with a pair of games.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Girls basketball hosted Hilmar on Jan. 30, coming up a few points short in a 56-49 decision against the Lady Yellowjackets. Riverbank then fell to Ripon Christian High School at home on Thursday, Feb. 1, with a final score of 58-41.

Just a single game is scheduled this week, with Senior Night on Thursday, Feb. 8, hosting the Lady Indians of Ripon. The Lady Bruins then finish the season on the road at Hughson on Friday, Feb. 9, and at Mountain House on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Bruin varsity boys basketball was on the road last week, with better luck on Tuesday, Jan. 30, with a 59-47 victory against the Yellowjackets of Hilmar. Then they dropped a 71-63 game at Ripon Christian on Friday.

Riverbank was to head out to Ripon High School on Tuesday, Feb. 6 before hosting the big Homecoming Game set for Friday, Feb. 9. They’ll welcome the Hughson Huskies for that contest. The boys close out their 2017-18 season at home, with Senior Recognition Night on Tuesday, Feb. 13, against Mountain House.
