Jeff Lorenson has been named a new Assistant Commissioner for the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section.

Lorenson, 42, joins the SJS from Davis Sr. High School, where he has been the Athletic Director since 2014. Prior to that, he was the AD at East Nicolaus (four years) and Esparto (seven years).

He’s currently the Sac-Joaquin Section board representative and Vice President of the California State Athletic Directors Association and has been a worker at the SJS Basketball and Track and Field Championships.

He started work at the Section office this month.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the Sac-Joaquin Section,” Lorenson said. “I’ve always been drawn to the CIF and the Sac-Joaquin Section and I hope to have a positive impact here. I know the importance of high school sports, and I’m honored for this opportunity.”

Lorenson and his wife, Christi, have two children: Kalynn (freshman at Inderkum HS) and Jaxon (fifth grade).

“We’re excited to have Jeff joining our staff,” Section Commissioner Mike Garrison said. “He’s done great work as the athletic director at Davis Sr. High and with CSADA. We know we’re getting a good one.”

Lorenson’s position is a newly created one, bringing the SJS full-time staff to seven. He becomes the fourth Assistant Commissioner in the history of the Sac-Joaquin Section.

CIF Sac-Joaquin Section oversees high school athletics for 198 schools and 250,000 students. Its geographic boundaries stretch from Merced in the south, Grass Valley in the North, Vallejo to the west and the Nevada state line to the east. The Section is the second largest of California’s 10 athletic sections.
