Playing their last soccer game away, the Bruin girls lost to Patterson by 5-1 on May 10.

Serena Palmer scored the only goal for Riverbank. That came off a penalty kick awarded in the middle of the second half.

"Serena shot high and to the right. Their goalie jumped the other way," said Bruin coach Roger Nelson.

Raquel Anguiano was kept busy in the Riverbank goal. She was credited with 12 saves.

Patterson scored a couple of goals early in the game and led by 3-0 at halftime.

"It wasn't that bad a game. This has been a building year. We're hoping to do better, scorewise, next season," said Nelson.

Riverbank finished the season 2-11-1 in the Trans Valley League. The Bruin wins were against Livingston and Ripon Christian.

"They had the talent. They just couldn't get it together," Nelson said of the girls. "They played great in some games, then were completely off the next time."
