More RHS Coaches Approved

More coaches for the Riverbank High School fall sports season have been approved by school district trustees.

Matt Elkins will lead the varsity football coaching team, with Monte Wood and Chris Johnson as his assistants.

Ryan Hern was approved to coach junior varsity football.

Martin Gonzales will again coach the varsity boy's soccer team, and John Bartlett the varsity girls' golf team.

Cathy Ashworth will take over as cheerleading advisor.

Ashworth is a classified employee for the district, said a district staff member. Last year's coach will not have the time this year, as she is returning to school in pursuit of a higher degree.

The board approves groups of coaches as they complete their requirements, such as fingerprinting and CPR certification.

Even with school out for the summer vacation, approval will enable coaches to begin working with potential team members in preparation for the sports season that begins in September.
