There weren’t too many contests on the schedule but the varsity Bruins basketball and soccer teams – boys and girls – notched wins against Mother Lode League opponents this past week.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

The Lady Bruins had no trouble in a road game Friday, Jan. 16 at Linden, as they upended the host Lady Lions by a 50-7 decision in their only game of the week. The JV girls also won, 37-11, for Riverbank.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Friday action for the varsity boys basketball team saw the Bruins defeat Linden on the road, 62-50. The JV boys did lose at Linden, falling to the JV Lions by a 56-17 final.

GIRLS SOCCER

In action on Jan. 13, the varsity Lady Bruins were on the road and defeated Bret Harte, 3-2. They trailed 1-0 at halftime but put three in the net in the second half, with tallies from Samantha Silva, Raquel Jimenez and Emmah Montes, who had had two assists as well.

They faced off against Summerville on Jan. 15 and didn’t fare as well, shut out at home by a 7-0 final.

BOYS SOCCER

It was a 4-1 win for the varsity soccer Bruins, hosting Bret Harte on Jan. 13. They were on the road Thursday, Jan. 15 at Summerville and took a 3-0 loss.
