Anglers Choice recently hosted the last event for the season in the Mother Lode semi-pro teams trail at Don Pedro. The weather was perfect although the lake conditions for fishing aren't stable due to receding lake levels. There were 22 paid entries and all but one had five fish limits.
Swim baits, jigs, split shot, and tubes proved to be best. There were a good number of top water strikes, however the fish weren't hooking up. The same team that won the first event of the season closed out the season with a first place finish to end the season. Matt Silveira (Denair) and Josh Smith (Turlock) caught 16.88 lbs with a 3.70 kicker winning them two nice plaques and $1030. Casting out and making a steady retrieve, Mike Beevers and Rob Kocher (both Newman), finally put the Angler of the Year title in their boat. They finished seven out of eight tries in the money and on this final event of the season they shared the big fish of the day title a 5.26 lunker, which anchored their 16.38 pound five fish limit.
