This week, with activities Jan. 20 through Jan. 23, is being observed as Winter Homecoming on the campus of Oakdale High School.
While there was no school on Monday, Jan. 19 due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday observance, members of the various grade levels turned out to do some hallway decorating, working on that from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
Theme for the week is ‘Roadtrip Into Hoco’ and there are several ‘destinations’ for the week.
Tuesday, Jan. 20 was Aspen, Colorado ‘ski wear’ dress up day with Wednesday Jan. 21 observed as Manhattan, New York ‘fancy’ dress up day.
Thursday, Jan. 22, students are encouraged to wear Mardi Gras-style attire for New Orleans, Louisiana and on Friday, Jan. 23, the road trip destination is Oakdale, with students asked to dress Western or with school spirit.
The Homecoming Rally is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 23 and the coronation of Winter Homecoming Royalty will take place on Friday evening, between the JV and Varsity boys basketball games in the OHS gym.
Homecoming Queen candidates are Emma Humphrey, Dakota Burford, Payton Wilson, Skyler Cavanaugh and Peyton O’Neal. In the running for King are Anthony Alvarro, Beau Kesterson, Luke Sousa, Carter Riley and Max Birchall.
Princess hopefuls are Mariah McTague, Tenley Wylie, Aubrey Sibley, Emma Riley and Skyler Burford, while those nominated for Prince are Kyler Haidlen, Aden Cavanaugh, Carter Birchall, Wyatt Gilstrap and Brody Norberg Jones.
