A Riverbank High runner was able to put a little postscript on the end of her 2025 track season over the weekend.

RHS junior Giselle Fernandez, who will be a senior when school resumes in August, competed in the 105th CIF State Track and Field Championship at Buchanan High School in Clovis.

She placed seventh in the 1600 meter preliminary on Friday, May 30, with a time of 4:49.83.

She did better in the finals on Saturday, with a 4:48.80 finish, good for sixth place, and a new personal record.

Football Preparation

The Riverbank High football program held an information night on Tuesday, May 27, ahead of their first day of practice, on Monday morning, June 2.

Led by varsity coach Joe Pirillo, and featuring the rest of the coaching staff, the audience included family and friends of returning football players expecting to play in the fall. It also included some students graduating from Cardozo Middle School hoping to play in freshman football next year.

Coach Pirillo told them that morning summer practices would be starting this week, and continuing through the end of the month. The first three weeks of July are a state required ‘dead’ period, through July 18, where no practices are allowed.

The first scheduled seven-on-seven scrimmage is set for June 12.

In addition to the practice schedule, Pirillo pointed out that players would not be able to practice until they had completed their required physicals.
