Summer Activities For Teens

Teens are invited to sign up with the Riverbank Recreation Department for a June 30 trip to Pinecrest Lake in the Sierra Nevada.

The participants will leave the Community Center by bus at 8 a.m. and will take part in a hike with friends around the Lake, according to the department summer activity brochure. The cost is only $10.

Interested persons can call 869-7010, or register in person at 6707 Third Street.

In a second Recreation Department for teens, they may take a trip to Paramount Great America in Santa Clara on July 7.

The excursion offers a day of riding roller coasters, seeing shows and playing arcade games.

The fee is $55 per person. Bring a friend and spending money. Register with the Recreation Department.

Throughout the summer months, teen can enjoy the Riverbank Community Pool, which is now open daily for recreational swimming.

Hours are from 12:30- to 4 p.m. weekdays, and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The admission cost is $1.25 for children under 18, and $2 for adults. Season passes cost $40 for an individual, and $60 for a family

Also at the pool this summer, swimming lessons are under way. Four two-week sessions remain, each running from Monday through Thursday. The cost is $30 for residents and $32 for non-residents. Pre-registration is required. Classes fill up quickly. Register at the Recreation Department.

For those who prefer a more artistic approach to their summer activity, the Recreation Department's drama camp is coming up fast.

The camp, for children six through 12 years old, will run June 20-24, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Jacob Myers Park. Make stage props, learn lines and perform a show for family. It will conclude with a grand performance and barbecue on the Friday, June 25. The fee is $65. Register at the Recreation Department office.
