Riverbank Athletes End Campaign With Trip To Masters

Although no one from Riverbank High School is going to the CIF state track meet this year, the school was well represented in the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Meet hosted May 28 and 29 in Sacramento.

Participating in the SJS Masters Meet were Donovan Wallace in both the 100 and 200 meter dash events, Chris Nunez in the 800, and Alex Reyes, Tayler Anderson, and Lizzie Uscanga in the 3200 meter runs.

Wallace had been fighting back spasms in recent days and that may have kept the senior from turning in his best time. All athletes performed well, officials said, though the level of competition at the Masters was high and it would have taken personal bests from all participants to qualify for the State Meet.

Riverbank did have a hugely successful track and field season, as both the boys and girls won the Trans-Valley League titles earlier, and the boys placed fifth in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III finals, tying Oakdale High School.
