The varsity boys basketball team played three tough games in the annual Ron Peterson Tip-Off Tournament, Thursday through Saturday in the Ray Fauria Memorial Gymnasium.

In the first two, Thursday and Friday, the Bruins came back from a 10-point deficit in each, to win decidedly. It was 53-43 over the Summerville Bears on Thursday, then they won 56-38 against the Coyotes of Denair on Friday.

That put Riverbank in the Championship Game on Saturday, but they lost to Calaveras in a heartbreaker, falling 60-58.

The Bruins were to host Bret Harte from Angels Camp on Tuesday, then play in a tournament in Turlock over the weekend.

Sports action continues during the Christmas-New Year holiday break, but there’s a non-conference game scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 17 at Central High School in Ceres, and another in Stockton on Dec. 23.
