Riverbank Boys Host Annual Basketball Tournament

Girls and boys basketball action was busy last week, with the Lady Bruins hosting on Monday, Dec. 2, and the boys’ three-day Tip-Off Tournament ending the week on the home courts.

 

Bruin Basketball Tournament

The varsity boys basketball team played three tough games in the annual Ron Peterson Tip-Off Tournament, Thursday through Saturday in the Ray Fauria Memorial Gymnasium.

In the first two, Thursday and Friday, the Bruins came back from a 10-point deficit in each, to win decidedly. It was 53-43 over the Summerville Bears on Thursday, then they won 56-38 against the Coyotes of Denair on Friday.

That put Riverbank in the Championship Game on Saturday, but they lost to Calaveras in a heartbreaker, falling 60-58.

The Bruins were to host Bret Harte from Angels Camp on Tuesday, then play in a tournament in Turlock over the weekend.

Sports action continues during the Christmas-New Year holiday break, but there’s a non-conference game scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 17 at Central High School in Ceres, and another in Stockton on Dec. 23.

 

Lady Bruin Hoops

The girls hosted the Ceres Lady Bulldogs in a non-league game on Monday, Dec. 2 but came up short, 60-44, in the varsity game.

They were to travel to Delhi on Tuesday, Dec. 10, then host Big Valley Christian of Modesto on Dec. 12. They, too, have games scheduled during the long holiday break.

 

Bruin Soccer

Varsity boys soccer found Riverbank on the short end of a 9-1 match at Pacheco High School in Los Banos on Friday, Dec. 6, and dropping a 3-2 decision at Lathrop on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

They were set to host Golden Valley of Merced on Dec. 11, then travel to Calaveras High School in San Andreas on Friday, Dec. 13. They have more non-league matches scheduled through the end of the year.

 

Lady Bruin Soccer

Varsity girls soccer came to a stalemate, 0-0, at McNair High School in Stockton on Wednesday, Dec. 4, and fell 5-0 in Oakdale on Dec. 5.

They’re scheduled to play at Calaveras on Tuesday, Dec. 17, during the school’s holiday break, but after that won’t play again until January.
