A mix-up in varsity roster preparation forced Riverbank to miss a six-point forfeit, and Denair capitalized with lower weight victories to capture a 42-33 win over the host Bruins on Dec. 14.
"Right now we are settling down and going back to the basic fundamentals," Riverbank interim head coach Martin Ugalde said. "These kids are learning a little more and understanding the sport."
Sophomore Ryan Stiner led Riverbank with an impressive win while Jose Arias and Javier Reyes both captured varsity victories. Riverbank earned a forfeit at 220 pounds and saw a big junior varsity win from Tim Sterling at the same weight. The team was without 114-pound standout Ruben Lopez, who injured his arm.
Riverbank is at Hughson on Wednesday and again on Thursday for a dual meet tournament.
