Riverbank girls got a runner across home plate during a rundown play in the second, but that was their only run against Escalon as the Bruins lost their final game by 5-1.

Playing on their home diamond on Friday, the Bruins scored on a scramble from third base with two outs as Escalon fielders concentrated on the batter running for first base.

Escalon scored one run in the fourth inning, two in the sixth and two more in the seventh.

Showing a powerful batting lineup, the Cougars also scattered 11 hits to Riverbank's three.

Chelsi Walls did duty on the pitching mound for Riverbank, and Tessa Lozano was the catcher.

Showing a 5-11 overall record the last time they faced Escalon and lost, the Bruins have suffered a string of losses since then.

Coach Cassi Ross, however, has previously commented she is proud of the team.

"They got better every week and that 's what's important," she said.
