The Trans-Valley League will only be sending two teams to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V Boys Soccer Tournament and if the Riverbank Bruins do not want to relinquish their grip on the league's top spot, the squad will have to close out strong.

Riverbank has done a remarkable job at keeping its momentum, rolling past TVL opponents Modesto Christian and Ripon Christian by a combined score of 10-0 in recent action.

The Bruins had little problem exposing the Crusaders, jumping out to a comfortable 4-0 lead by the halftime intermission. The win gave the Bruins their ninth win on the TVL schedule and pushed the squad that much closer to the TVL's No. 1 seed.

Eder Zamora paced Riverbank in the Modesto Christian win, scoring two goals in the contest for the team lead. Gustavo Amezcua, Mario Hernandez, Roberto Manriquez, Ivan Zamudio and Miguel Vigil all scored one goal for the Bruins in the 7-0 shellacking.

Riverbank had no desire to slow down, pushing past the Ripon Christian Knights in the team's next match. The Knights had failed to score against Riverbank in the squads' first two meetings and the trend would not change during Riverbank's 3-0 win.

Jesus Cerda found the back of the net for the Bruins, while teammate Ricardo Vigil pushed two shots past the Ripon Christian keeper as the Riverbank squad staked their claim to being among the TVL's elite teams.

The Bruins will have a huge test waiting on them on their home field, however, as the Ripon Indians pay the Bruins a visit today, Wednesday, Oct. 29. Riverbank suffered its only loss thus far in TVL play to the Indians, a fact that will not be too far from either squads' mind.

Riverbank will then wrap up TVL action with a trip to Hughson on Monday, Nov. 3, bringing the TVL soccer schedule to a close. Finishing out the season with back-to-back victories will leave the Bruins in the TVL's No. 1 seed, enabling the squad to host the Mother Lode League's No. 2 seed on Nov. 11 at Riverbank High.

The Bruins would face up with the Western Athletic Conference's No. 2 seed if they fell out of the league's No. 1 seed position.

The Bruins and Indians are scheduled for a 4 p.m. first whistle, while the squads' trip to Hughson is scheduled for the same start time.
