The look on the majority of the Riverbank High soccer team's faces after a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Escalon back on Sept. 20 told the entire story. The Cougars were able to find the net in the waning minutes of the first half and connected on the winning goal late in the second half leaving the Bruins with an empty, dejected feeling that, as a team, they don't want to feel again.

Since the Trans-Valley League loss to Escalon more than a month ago, the Bruins are playing some of the best soccer in the area and are in position to grab at least a portion of the TVL title.

Riverbank continued its forward push with a complete destruction of the Hughson Huskies and a hard-fought victory over the Modesto Christian Crusaders in action this week.

Hughson showed up to Riverbank High and had no idea what they were in store for, as the Bruins exploded for seven unanswered first half goals. That pushed the Huskies into a hole that proved to be impossible to climb out of before the end of the game. Daniel Garcia paced the Riverbank squad with three goals scored, while teammates Juan Luna, Gerardo Ramirez and Jaime Vigil all connected on two shots.

Riverbank would come out and pour on seven more goals in the final 40 minutes for the convincing 14-0 win, the worst loss on Hughson's schedule this season.
