Riverbank Swimmers Make Big Splash

Riverbank youngsters who swim for the Oakdale Gators contributed to a 920-818 home win over the Tracy Tritons on July 17.

Ranked among the top 20 swimmers of a 140-member team, Katelin Britton in the 7-8 year old age group brought her team 18 points.

In relay races, Britton swam last for the winning girls 7-8 100-yard medley team, which posted a time of 1:55.98.

She also swam the last lap of the freestyle relay where Oakdale won in 1:38.22.

Her brother Christian Britton brought in the final leg of the mixed 6 and under 100 freestyle relay, which won in 1:46.88.

Another Riverbank resident, Aspen Coons, was the final swimmer for the girls 9-10 200 freestyle relay team which placed second in a time of 2:46.76.

Victor Rojas and Caleb Gonzales swam second and third in the boys 9-10 200 freestyle relay and their team placed third in 3:57.16.

In individual results, Gonzales placed seventh in 2:35.55 in the 100 individual medley and 19th in the 50 freestyle in 59.33.

Christian Britton won the boys 25 freestyle in 21.11, the 50 freestyle in 48.38 and the 25 butterfly in 28.91.

Katelin Britton won the girls 25 butterfly in 22.63, placed first in the 25 freestyle in 19.11 and placed third in the 50 freestyle in 44.52.

Mariah Hiebert placed 13th in the girls 25 butterfly for 7-8 year-olds in 47.15 and 22nd in the 25 freestyle in 42.27.

Aspen Coons won a fifth place in 48.72 for the girls 50 backstroke and an eighth place in the 50 freestyle in 41.02.

Victor Rojas placed ninth in 1:09.72 for the boys 50 breaststroke.

Alicia Gonzales won a fifth place in 37.74 for the girls 25 freestyle for 6 years and under.
