After have two consecutive less than stellar seasons, the RiverOak Redskins are seemingly taking huge steps in the right direction after putting together a solid weekend during the Delta Youth Football League's jamboree action recently.

The Redskins novice squad opened up what should be viewed as a monumental weekend for the Redskins organization. RiverOak has had a great deal of success in the DYFL over the years and the program is tracking its way back to the top.

There was something different about this season's squad as they walked single file onto the McNair High football field in Stockton for their first contact against an opposing team on Saturday, Aug. 23.

The Redskins novice squad displayed no fear as they marched on the field for their battle with the Northwest Trojans of Stockton. The Trojans have been a staple atop of the DYFL standings for years and provided the Redskins with a quality gauge as to what they have in camp thus far.

After a brief stammer getting things going offensively, the Redskins were able to put together a scheme that enabled the youngsters to move the ball down the field on the Trojans to the pleasure of a throng of Redskins supporters who could easily be heard from the upper-section of the McNair bleachers.
